WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT (ESD)

Emergency Services Districts (ESDs) are subdivisions of the the State of Texas and are created by the local citizens in a community in order to provide funding for emergency medical and/or fire services. On November 6, 2007, Navarro County ESD #1was approved by the voters within the boundaries of the proposed district thereby creating an on-going funding source for a variety of fire services for the district.


Navarro County ESD #1 is a taxing entity that can levy up to 5 cents per $100 valuation on properties within the district. The ESD is governed by a Board of five Emergency Services Commissioners who are appointed by the Navarro County Commissioner's Court.

NAVARRO COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT NO. I ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 7.692 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $3.00.
